Now that the supply chain is not as strained as it was 6 months ago, why aren't the food prices coming down? A pack of mushrooms $5.99, cucumber $2.99 each, a pack of strawberries $6 and so on.
Who regulates the prices and how does this whole thing work? |
| Where are you shopping. I pay half that. |
| Corporations are making record profits. Why would they stop? |
Wholefoods since I am used to going to that store so much. I am open to other options. Where do you grocery shop? |
|
Aldis is still good.

Good grief, why do people pluralize Aldi? And Nordstrom? And a whole list of other proper corporate names? Company names are singular. It’s ALDI And Aldi produce (as well as most of its other products) is garbage. |
| OP if you want to save money, look at weekly fliers online + track sale cycles for specific items. Eat less meat. Sign up for Safeway, Giant, CVS, Walgreens clubs, etc. Make as much as you can yourself. Prices are not coming down any time soon. Gas prices are going up and workers are demanding fairer pay. Climate change is destroying crops. |
A cucumber is even $1.89 at Target. |
If you’re still buying at the higher price, why would the store sell them for less? |
89c at Giant yesterday. |
Customers regulate it by walking out and going over to Lidl. |
| Cucumbers are .99 cents at Harris Teeter. You should start shopping somewhere else. |
This. The businesses are trying to understand where the tipping point is. You are still shopping there, yes? Most grocery stores are cheaper than Whole Paycheck. |
| When items we like are on sale, we buy them + freeze it. We only have one small freezer ( part of the fridge), and it is usually full. Everything is stored in freezer bags and marked with date we bought it. We save a ton. It works for us and really cuts down on our weekly bill. We do the same with pantry items. We are frugal/cheap multi- millionaires. |
| I just learned the joys of Costco today. My goodness, what good stuff for low prices. |
