| Looking at a relative's old records, a car dealership in Alexandria, VA where they also lived made them pay nearly 4k in property tax on a leased car that cost about 32k new over the course of a 3 year lease. Curious if this was negotiable, or how things worked then and still? |

Tax is nonnegotiable, at least in the United States...
Typically, when you lease a car in VA, the lessor prepays the lease and bills it to the lessee. Unfortunately, Virginia bills it based on the value of the car, where DC for instance bills you a flat 10 pct on the monthly fee. Leasing in VA sucks. |
