If you are a non-creative type, what are your interests and hobbies ?

Per the marrying creative types thread, I am curious about the interests and hobbies of individuals who work in finance and tech and law etc. what do you guys read? What do you do in your free time?

My DH is a finance type. He’s plays video games and watches sports. I paint next to him.

I don't work in those fields, but am definitely not a creative. I like to:
-Bake
-Plan house projects
-Read nonfiction
-Hang out with my dog

Wow, this is exactly me, just replace nonfiction with fiction.

I work in tech and read realistic fiction, biographies, comedy, mystery, etc. I love Broadway plays, going to modern art museums, interior design, clothing, music, comedy shows.

I read, workout, walk, listen to podcasts, learn about tarot/do tarot readings, thrift, cook new recipes. I always feel like I have more hobbies than I do but it’s because I have a rich inner life and my mind is really busy learning and exploring stuff.

I’m a dc lawyer with a fancy gig under a lot of stress. I never considered myself creative in the traditional sense—I don’t enjoy painting, I don’t play an instrument, etc. But an important client introduced me to the world of furries and the covid lockdown gave me an opportunity to launch a side hustle designing furskins.

I don’t make them myself, but I do sketch the specs and employ a growing team of seamstresses. I spend my free time at various clubs trying to anticipate where trends will go. I find it feeds my creative itch on many levels…including the physical aspects.

I think you spelled “I like creative writing” wrong.

Leave to the creative types to pigeon-hole others as not creative.

This, except I don’t bake. Hike, cycle. Plan trips. Prefer historical fiction or non-fiction, but also read mysteries & light romance stuff from time to time. Don’t watch much tv.

DH fits your description fully. He enjoys watching sports, exercising, fixing things (today he fixed the dishwasher himself; I will forever be impressed by this ability), fishing, canoe trips, caring for our dogs, and obsessing over our personal finances.

There seems to be a whole new genre of creative writing on DCUM, birthed just today -- stories that revolve around furries.
