Lash tinting & lash loss- what’s normal?

Anonymous
I usually get my lashes tinted every 6-8ish weeks, but after the last two rounds (with 7 weeks and 9 weeks in between, respectively), I’ve noticed a lot of lashes dropping. It happens 3-4 days after they are tinted and I’m picking out loose lashes that are tangled in my other lashes or they’re already on my face.

I wouldn’t have noticed but my DD is really into people making wishes on fallen lashes on cheeks. And suddenly I noticed that she’s always and only reminding me of wishes right after my lashes get tinted!

Is this normal? Bad? Should I stop?

I am interested int he answer, too.
Are you white? If so, One idea- your lashes are darker so they are more in contrast to your face

I would like to get my lashes tinted but have been reading that you can't use any oil-based makeup remover on tinted lashes - I would want to use mascara on top of the tint. So that means I wouldn't be able to use makeup remover. Any thoughts from those of you who have gone through this?

Many people (not all) experience a fall “lash shed” in which they shed more lashes than normal and the overall lash line appears a bit thin as a result. If this continues for more than a few weeks (4ish), it might be something else, but for now I wouldn’t worry. Try not to rub your eyes too much in the meantime. They’ll grow back to normal fullness.

As for using oil-based remover, I have never personally noticed it causing an issue with tint removal but it’s entirely possible. When I was tinting or getting extensions regularly, I used a gel-based remover by Borboleta that was specifically formulated for use with either. I believe they now sell directly to consumers, but your lash tech should also know about it. I actually continue to use that remover because I hate dealing with the oil.
