It wasn’t the biggest. But it had its own charm.
As a kid, I was so impressed by the alligator exhibit! Anyone else go there back then? |
|
Wait, it's not there anymore?!
2 PM: Shark feeding |
| Closed permanently in 2013 : - ( |
| It was gross and moldy |
| I remember fondly. I would go during my lunch hour just to walk around. And I went a few times the last month it was open. I was bummed out when it closed. |
| My kids loved in when they were little. Obviously pre 2013. |

yes, so, so gross and quite a let down after the Baltimore Aquarium.
interesting that now the Baltimore Aquarium calls itself the National Aquarium. I always wondered how many tourists they got who thought it was the Bmore one and were like, wtf? |
| Didn’t they move some exhibits to the National Harbor for a year or so after they closed in DC? |
Many! |
| That place was awful. I’ve been to better petsmarts displays |
| This falls under "Things only native Washingtonians know" or the super long thread "I grew up here and remember..." |
| I did not know it wasn't there anymore! I liked it. |
| It wasn't in the Hoover Building. It was in Dept. of Commerce, basement. |
That makes more sense. I was stunned thinking I never saw an entrance at the Hoover building and they didn't just let people in. Not even back in the 90s. |
| We called it fish jail. |
