Anyone else noticing WAY more grasshoppers this year?

I did some weeding this afternoon, and the grasshoppers were like popcorn. I've never noticed that many every before. Is anyone else seeing a ton of grasshoppers this year??

I saw a bunch today too! Don’t overthink it. But populations bounce around and maybe we just had the right weather or moon or who knows why.

It’s me. Sorry. My spells to drive them away from my yard have finally worked.

Just kidding. No, this is actually a low year for me but I made a point of smooshing all of the tiny hoppers I saw this spring. They move slower in the morning if that helps.

I haven’t seen any grasshoppers but I have had an abundance of praying mantids. I spent a lot of time relocating them far away from where my hummingbirds would feed.

I wonder if they have been eating the spotted lantern flies, there have been way fewer of those.

Why? What harm are grasshoppers? They're fun for kids to catch and they don't bite, am I missing something?

I watched this video, and I wonder if it has anything to do with lantern flies and a food source.
For those who don’t want to click, it is a video of a grasshopper eating a lantern fly.
