| Going on an Oct weekend and the Amtrak tix for 2 of us are close to 600. We live in Bethesda so thinking to try the bus, looking at Tripper or Vamoose-Gold versions vs regular. Anyone? Leaving early on friday and getting back late on Sunday so hopefully traffic shouldnt be an issue |
| Or, just tick to Amtrak? OP here again |
| Edit from OP: stick to Amtrak is what I meant |
| I’ve done both- honestly can’t remember the differences. Both were fine. As long as there isn’t much traffic, riding the bus is pretty easy. |
| I have taken Vamoose, and enjoyed it--very comfortable. Will do it again. Not familiar with Tripper. |
| Have taken Vamoose and it was fine. Depends a lot on who else is on the bus and who you’re sitting next to. Last time I took the bus, you could hear a pin drop no one was talking or on the phone. |

Tripper fan here. After you book some number of trips (6?), you get one free! They give you a free bottle of water when you board the bus. Wifi works great, and have never had any troubles.
And both are probably fine. Go with the one that has the schedule that works best for you |
| I wouldn't do the bus. Too many horror stories. Just take Amtrak and be done with it |
|
I’ve taken both when the Amtrak is wildly expensive and prefer Tripper. Just seems a little cleaner and nicer, although Vamoose is totally fine. Just go with whichever schedule you prefer.
Honestly from Bethesda the bus is more convenient. |
| Bus is way more convenient than Amtrak from Bethesda. Have a slight preference for Vamoose but usually just take whichever has the schedule I want. |
| PS gold is nice if there is an odd number of people traveling because the seats are 2+1 so you can probably avoid sitting next to a stranger if you care about that. |
| If going from Bethesda, I think Vamoose is so much better than Amtrak. Amtrak isn’t really faster because you have to add on the travel time to get to the station and then wait for your train. As long as you aren’t picking a time where you’ll sit at the Lincoln tunnel going into Manhattan, I would choose the bus. |
My brother travels to NYC a lot for business. He gave up on the train and bus due to hassles and time getting to it plus delays. He drives to NYC now, leaving early, and books hotels with reasonable parking rates (under $50/day). Driving almost always save him time and money… but he has to leave the city before or after rush hour. |
| Either is great, Triplper is a little nicer. I've been delayed more often on Amtrak than on the bus. |
| I used Tripper several times in the past. Never had a problem and very easy from Bethesda. |
