To drain the grease from organic lean ground beef, I tilt the pan so the grease collects on one side, and then I use a couple paper towels to absorb it, then throw the paper towels out (sometimes in a non recyclable container if I have one).
Usually I'm not browning ground beef for company anyway, but if you were over for dinner and I was, would you think this is gross or fine? I try to buy extra lean but sometimes can't find it. My pan that I use is heavy to lift and pour it out, plus I really find that completely gross to have a can/jar/container of fat. Bacon grease doesn't bother me as much. |
Why would this be gross? |
exactly this. |
I cut the top off a Bud Light can and pour it in there. The can stays on the countertop until full and then goes to the trash van. |
Some people keep a metal coffee can on the stove for collecting drippings, but I’m not crazy about that. What I do is spoon the fat into a ramekin, then after it’s cooled, dispose of it in the trash and wash the ramekin. |
Fine but I'd worry about some of it getting into the drain and causing issues. |
I don’t eat beef but if I did I wouldn’t think this was gross.
I roasted potatoes yesterday and after the oil cooled I poured it back in the oil container. I reuse it for roast potatoes ( nothing else) next time. My spouse thinks this is gross. |
How are soaked paper towels that are going into a garbage container going to end up in the drain? |
That’s exactly what I do. What’s gross about it? |
That's also what I do. If possible, I let the grease cool and solidify and then it's even easier to wipe it out.
Partly this is because our pans are heavy and it is hard for me to lift them and pour grease into another container. Even if there is a handle on the other side of the pan, I find this unwieldy and struggle to get the grease into the can. |
I like to get as much grease out as possible. I do what you do OP but after that I cover groundbeef with a couple of paper towels and, using a spatula, I press the grease out. Paper towels get completely soaked with grease. |
Satire I presume? |
Your spouse is correct, that is gross. Go eat a hamburger, much less gross. |
As long as the paper towel is clean, I don't find it gross at all. |
Now THAT is gross. |
