Chrysler Pacifica FCW

Anonymous
I purchased a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid last year and the window sticker said forward collision warning. In the past two weeks the FCW has falsely activated three times with an alarming noise and the brake message displaying on the instrument panel. I have asked two separate dealerships to repair the issue and they were told by the manufacturer that they cannot find anything wrong. They also told us that the technology is not fully developed and false alarms are expected. If I don’t want to use the feature then I can just turn it off. There was no fix for the issue. Has anyone has false alarms in the FCW for Chrysler? I am upset that this was advertised as a standard feature yet the dealerships are telling me that it is still not fully developed technology. Do I just accept this or should I contact a lawyer and pursue a buyback?

Not on a Chrysler but a VW. I took it to the dealer and they washed the car for free (yes it had been months since the car was washed). The problem went away. The tech said that sometimes dirt and grime can affect the sensors.

This has been a complaint on all brands for a decade or more. You really didn’t know? In my Honda if we are in a rural hilly area the FCW will alert on the hill in front of us, thinking it’s a car.

Happens occasionally in my Volvo XC90, when going around a corner and cars are parked on the side of the road. I think you just have to be aware of the potential for false alarms.
