I’ve decided it’s time to upgrade and buy a nicer tote for myself. I’m 50 and work in a professional setting so I’m looking for something versatile that I can wear with jeans but also use for work. I’ve used a variation of the Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch type tote bags for years, but the bags I’ve had don’t crossover into something I’d wear for a more casual outing. I can afford a nice quality bag, but I’m not a fashion snob and don’t care at all about brand names.
Criteria are that it’s classic, something that won’t go out of style in a year or two, big enough to fit a lap top and a few work papers, and has a comfortable strap that doesn’t dig into my shoulder when the bag is full. And I’m short (5 feet) so nothing too big. Thanks for any recommendations! |
| Have you looked at Cuyana? |
| Not a specific bag recommendation, but I finally ditched my leather tote for canvas and I'm so glad I did; the leather is just too darned heavy. |

Any how you carry a laptop on one shoulder it won't be that comfortable!! That said, i love the Longchamp NYLON bags. I borrowed my mom's for a year to carry breast pump accessories back and forth to work and I was sold! It really can fit a lot, water resistant, and it looks really classy. Timeless brand of course.
For work, black is of course a default. But i love the colors they do offer if you think one will work for you. Tan, red or orange could work too, and would be more casual. Here's a pink one for example: https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/longchamp-le-pliage-expandable-tote-nordstrom-exclusive/7503010 |
+1 I also need a new tote and have similar requirements. The Cuyana bags look beautiful and have organizers and pouches you can add on to customize. I think that's what I'm going to go with! |
