Health Insurance Question

I’ll also ask HR, but any thoughts on this. I am quitting on a Friday and starting a new job on a Monday. My health insurance will end the last day of the month (September 30). My new insurance won’t start until October 2. So I need to find coverage for that one day?

No. Hopefully you won't have any health issues for those few days. If you happen to have any appointments when your insurance lapses, try to schedule them when you have coverage. It's necessary to get cobra or the like for a few days

Generally speaking if something catastrophic were to happen on that day you could buy the cobra for your previous employer‘s insurance

Yes this. You have 60 days to enroll in COBRA and it’s retroactive to the last day of employment.

OP here. Thanks, all. I forgot that you don’t automatically enroll in COBRA and that you have those 60 days. I was worried what would happen if you got in a car accident or something freak like that.
