Dutch apple pie in DC?

Anonymous
I was listening to a podcast extolling an apple pie served at Winkel, a cafe in Amsterdam.

This is a copycat recipe, which I might make, but I would much rather buy a slice, or a whole pie, from a bakery in the DMV. Searching “dutch bakery DC” yielded no results.

If you know of a place that does a Dutch apple pie, please share!

I think in the US, "Dutch" Apple pie refers to Amish (PA Dutch) rather than "from Holland". I've seen them at all the ordinary groceries this fall and they look to be good, just a pretty basic apple pie w a certain top crust. Is that what you mean? was the Holland item more of an open faced apple torte w a shiny glaze on top and not a traditional pie?

thank you, that apple pecan pie at Carlyle does look good (i found the photo on yelp), but not what I’m looking for.

It seems like the winkel apple pie is unique in that it uses a spring form pan?

(also a blend of spices that includes white pepper)

Ah, that distinction between PA Dutch and EU Dutch makes sense, thanks.

Maybe I will just have to make it myself

That picture does look more like an apple cake definitely NOT a pensylvania Dutch apple pie like I was originally thinking. Looks delicious though. I may also have to make it!

FYI, Amish/PA Dutch are of German origin not Holland/The Netherlands. It's a corruption of the word Deutsch.
