Dogfish in Fairfax is Closing

From their FB:
This comes with a heavy heart,
As some of you may already know, Dogfish Head Alehouse will NOT be renewing our lease. We will be closing our doors at the end of December. Our 15 years here in Greenbriar have been so amazing and honestly we thank you all for that. There were so many businesses that didn’t make it through COVID and because of all you, we did. We are saddened to leave but want to continue our business through the end of the year. We truly want to thank you all for everything you have done for us and the support we have received along the way. It’s been a great 15 years and we hope you all continue to come out and support us through the end!

With the one in Falls Church already closed, this leaves just one location in Gaithersburg. Their food is great and this place always seemed busy. I'm sad to see it go.

What's replacing it? That's a big location.

Food was meh, beer was better. The one in Falls Church is going to be a raising canes fried chicken strips place now.

Ugh, really? That place is gross.

I like sweetwater better. Are they still around?

My guess is two Lazy Dog restaurants within 6 miles of this place did it in.

Is this part of the Dogfish Head brewery? Is the whole enterprising closing down?

Not an official answer and anecdotal, but I doubt it. I think they may have discovered that these NOVA outpost restaurants didn't work or weren't worth it. The one in Falls Church closed a year or more ago. Their DE business seems to be in great shape based on our beach trip there this summer.

Yes. They are in the same restaurant group as carlyle, Patsys, coastal flats, Ozzies, Jackson’s , etc..

IIRC, the handful of MD/VA outlets were actually not owned and operated by them, they just licensed the name.
