All,
Can anyone recommend a place for me to start? Looking for a place for me to go and talk with someone about my adolescent DD, to get tips on how to help her and to strengthen our relationship. For now, she says she won’t go but I’ll work on what I can do and hopefully, she will come later so ideally I’d like a place that works with families. She has ADHD (dyslexia too, but that’s not as big of a concern). Nothing too alarming yet, just the normal sass, pushback, boundary-pushing but we have fights about screen time limits, clothing (ugh!) and I need ways to de-escalate. She also struggles with friend drama/social situations at school and I try to help even though she doesn’t want it. I’m in MoCo. Thank you. |

PEP (Parent Encouragement Program) is a resource not specific to kids with ADHD, but there are lots of supports there that are definitely relevant for you. They have courses and webinars that would give you good insights into strengthening your relationship with your daughter. I'd start with their Encouragement Program and look at their Understanding Your Child's Behavior course as well. I've also done some neurodivergent-kids focused webinars they offer there as well. www.pepparent.org

| There are also folks who are parent coaches and not therapists. They work with families who are struggling in the same way as well as with families who children are either in or coming back from therapeutic residential settings. |
