Douglas MacArthur average class size?

Anonymous
I'm specifically interested in K, but curious about what the average class size is through all grades. Are there aides in each classroom beyond K?

They are huuuuuuuge. Or at least they were before the renovation.

Where can we find class size info for all schools??

Class sizes are typical. Kindergarten is the only grade with assistants.

How’s the new building?

Any thoughts on recent MacArthur experiences generally? Needing to decide in the next year or so whether we are going to do private for K or not.

We have been really happy with our MacArthur experience. The principal and teachers are great. The PTA is very involved, class sizes have been good and the new building is beautiful.

Do MacArthur as long as your children are able to. They could have good ES experiences there. I wouldn't say that about every ES in the City. You could also save literally $320K+ over the next 6 years (through 5th grade) if you can stay in ACPS during that time.

If you know families that have kids at the school ask them. Based on what I see daily, I would say they are small. However, class size doesn't really matter if you don't have a good teacher--there was lots of screen time "learning" last year.

Talk to families who send their kids there. If you enroll your kid in rec league youth sports like soccer, basketball, lacrosse, baseball or flag football, you'll run into many MacArthur families.

In the meantime, see page 140:

Divide the projected enrollment by grade by projected FTEs.

These numbers don't capture enrollment changes after June 2023 but it is a close approximation.

Is K the only year they have a teacher plus aide in each classroom?
