Do you share political views with your Gen Z child?

Anonymous
Sorry if this belongs in Politics but I would like it here.

If you have a 20something… Gen Z. Does your child have similar political views to you, or did they rebel, in which direction, is there some overlap, or are they comparatively less political?

Please try to keep it less about the politics itself and more about the dynamics of values differences, influences, and how you observe your kids coming into their own on how they perceive the world.

Both my Gen-z children share DH’s and my political views in general. When you get down to the nitty gritty we have a few differences. They are more black and white still and I have worked hard in my life to see the grey.

I'm very liberal but not quite enough liberal for my DD.

Both our kids share our general political leanings.
When it comes to voting/candidates, we tend to be more pragmatic, while they are still more idealistic.

I am pretty liberal and my kid is probably a little more.

Ex-- in a primary field with lots of candidates we might support the same person or we might not, but if it gets down to just a couple people we are generally voting for the same person.

Nope. My 19yo is pretty conservative. I am definitely not.

My younger 2 are TBD.

Yes we all share the same conservative views and values although it sometimes plays out differently I’m how we vote.

Very similar here. Our kids' political views are generally in the same direction as ours, but for some things we diverge. Where we diverge, the kids tend to be to the right of us economically and to the left socially.

Have they paid you back for their childhood luxuries?

One is further right (like DH), one is much further left, and one could not care less, but I would place her just right if me.

They haven't had too many. We are a fairly frugal family.
