Restaurant recommendation between DTSS and Dulles?

Anonymous
An old friend is flying into Dulles and wants to get together for dinner one evening. We live in Silver Spring, so I am seeking recommendations for a good, child-friendly restaurant about halfway between SS and Dulles. Any tips?

What time of day? Where is her destination? There are probably thousands of restaurants in between.

It will be for dinner, around 6pm. Rush hour!

Friend is spending the night near Dulles then going off on adventures the next morning.

Tyson’s could work … are there good non-chain restaurants near Tyson’s? Anywhere pleasant to eat outside if the weather is nice?

Downtown Bethesda has tons of restaurants. Or maybe the Irish Inn in Glen Echo, which is close to the beltway. Or downtown McLean.

It’s just not that far from SS to Dulles so a halfway point seems kind of unnecessary.

She could metro to Tysons. That time of day is nuts.

Metro to McLean, pick her up there. Dine at Aracosia McLean. It’s kid friendly and not a chain. If by kid-friendly you mean burger and fries, then I’d recommend The Union, also in McLean.
