Eco Alternative to Dry Swiffer Refills

Anonymous
I inadvertently developed a Swiffer habit. After cleaning out the house of a deceased relative, I took home many cleaning supplies to use up rather than dump out. One of the products I actually like is the Swiffer with the dry refill heads; they are easy and amazing for cleaning pet hair on wood floors. I am coming to the end of a Costco-sized refill box.

I suppose these things aren't eco friendly, but neither are the reusable microfiber refills the "green cleaning" websites I looked at recommend as alternatives.

Any suggestions? Cut down washable, cotton diapers to fit?

A vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors such as the Miele

We do use the Dyson animal mostly. But I wonder if old cotton T shirts would work well on the swifter. I bet they’d get most of it without the negative effects of washing microfiber.
