Volleyball club- recap and thoughts

CVA posts confirmed commitments when the player is ready. You can look at their social media for updates. Of course, it is on the player to do the work. If a club wants to support its players in finding the best fit who is refusing the help?

That's a question that cannot be answered with the information provided. Every club has a different philosophy for tryout clinics. The best answer would be that it depends on the club. The lower tier clubs would probably send offers to many players that show up at their tryout clinics, but some of their offers will not be accepted. Other clubs can only make offers only to 25% of the players they invited to their tryout clinics. You need to be more specific to receive a more informative answer.

How many girls were at their invite-only clinics that your DD went to?

Yeah, but that isn't what was said. A PP said "The only CHRVA club I know that actively gets all of their players recruited hands on is CVA" which suggests the CVA is providing some higher level of recruiting support than other local clubs, and I don't believe that is true.

CVA had pretryout clinics last night and it was obvious who the coaches were going to select at tryouts. Why even have these clinics and get all these girls hopes up when you know you aren’t going to select them? Just a money grab

What happened? The coaches were expressing interest in the best players on the court and less interest in those who didn't play that well? I am shocked!

Does anyone have info on DMV or MEVC? My 14yo was made offers by both

Has anyone seen San Jose State's Blaire Fleming's bio? They played for VA Juniors and John Champe HS girls volleyball team. I wonder if they were aware. I would think they would have known about this with the birth certificate.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from John Champe High School in 2020…played for head coach Jasmine Jackson…first team All-Cedar Rund District her senior year…senior team won a school-record 19 matches…senior team finished as district runners-up and earned a regional berth…set the school record with 30 kills in a match and single-season record with 266 kills…played club volleyball for the Virginia Juniors.

My daughter is on that team and really likes the coach. Last year was a bit of a struggle as it was a new team and had a lot of kids just coming out of rec, but I think they are going to be in a better place this year — I think the girls that are continuing developed an enthusiasm for the sport last year and did a lot of work over the summer.

Thanks so much. She really liked DMV as well. This is new to us and I don’t know much about either. Seems like this whole thing is pretty cutthroat!

Definitely MEVC, especially if you got a spot on the top team. If nothing changed recently, the MEVC top 14 team is coached by the Wootton JV coach. DMV is just a money grab - you go there only if you have no other options and your parents are willing to pay a lot more for your developing hobby.

They might start all over with kids at rec level. As far as I know, only a couple of the 13s will return. The rest might have Academy as their safe club, but they will move if they get offers.

We have friends who played for DMV and then moved to Maryland Juniors

Is there a disadvantage to Academy doing only local tournaments?
