Recommend: Adult Neurologist for Epilepsy

Anonymous
Hello,

Hoping someone out there has a good recommendation for me. I am a 43 year old female and have had epilepsy since childhood. It has been well-controlled with medication for a long time (knocking on wood). I had a great neurologist at GWU, Dr. Anumeha Sheth, but she moved about a year ago. I then switched to another GWU provider practicing out of Virginia Hospital Center, but he just moved out of the area as well. I have found that the staffing at GWU has gone downhill, so I wouldn't mind looking elsewhere. Years ago I saw practitioners at INOVA, but found they also had really high turnover.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good epileptologist in NoVa or DC? I would love a female doctor if anyone knows of one.

Thanks so much!

I haven't seem either of them since I got off medication (over 15 years ago when I was about your age) but I liked Dr. Michael Batipps (in DC, Washington Hospital Center) and Dr. Richard Ospina (NoVA). I saw Dr. Batipps once a year when i worked in DC, primarily to get a prescription filled. Once I stopped working in DC, Dr. Batipps referred me to Dr. Ospina whose practice was much closer to where I live and work. If after seeing them you still prefer a female doctor, ask them to refer you to one and they will. Both are great doctors and very nice gentlemen. Dr. Ospina was the one that recommended I get off medication after a few years of seeing me and worked with me to make that happen.
