APS 2024-25 Calendar (and first day of school)

Anonymous
Does anyone know when the Arlington Public School 24-25 calendar will be finalized and approved by the school board?

Also, any thoughts/predictions on when the first day of school in 2024 will be?

+1

With the new policy, the start date is going to remain a week before Labor Day.

Any chance APS would start two weeks before Labor Day? Or do you think they are committed to starting one week before LD?

Oh my gosh, they just voted about this last week. Have you not seen all the communications that have been going out for the last six months? Not trying to be a jerk, but this is a hot topic.

Bumping this thread. When will the 2024-25 calendar be approved and posted?

Found the email but it only shows board docs. Why is the approved policy not on calendars page?

Looks like 2 weeks before Labor Day?

Yes there is. There is no longer a process to create a new calendar every year that changes start dates, etc. They created a CALENDAR POLICY that dictates the parameters for start/end dates and which dates will off each year.

The new Calendar Policy was adopted on 9/7

From your second link:

Calendar Development
For any given school year, the calendar will be developed during the school year that begins two years
prior. (For example, the calendar for 2026-27 would be approved no later than December 2024.) In the
first year that this policy is in effect, two school year calendars will be developed together, with the first
being done during the school year that begins one year prior.

This policy was established 3 weeks ago! Are you being difficult on purpose? We all know the start date for next year. Plan your vacation accordingly.

I thought the pushback against 2 weeks before Labor Day was successful. Isn't the start 1 week before?

WTF is wrong with you? I was pointing out that they still need to develop the calendar. PP was saying "There is no longer a process to create a new calendar every year" which is false. -not OP

It not false- the old process included "voting"/feedback on when start dates, breaks and days off would be. That is no longer the case as there is a policy. Yes they will publish a "new" physical calendar each year that shows all of this, but there is no longer a whole process where we're guessing every year.

Yeah I’m confused too. I thought there was an amendment made but don’t see it here.
