We are considering a BEAUTIFUL old home that feeds into Forest Knolls ES. While the MCPS stats don't look impressive, I was wondeirng if anyone has any inside information or feedback to offer on the school? Thanks.

My kids don't go there (they are in magnets) but everyone in my neighborhood loves this school.

We just moved into this neighborhood. Our kids are going to Catholic school, but all the neighbors we've met so far just rave about Forest Knolls.

My son will be going to K in August so no first hand experience yet, but I have heard nothing but great things from the neighbors. In fact no one - out of 10-15 people I have spoken with - has said "so-so" or "ok" rather, the school is always "excellent", or "wonderful", "great" etc...

For me the issue is more with the middle (silver Spring Int'l) and HS (Northwood) though (obv.) I have yet to figure out the magnets and consortium....

"My son will be going to K . . . For me the issue is more with the middle (silver Spring Int'l). . ."

Please check out the numerous posts from parents with students at Silver Spring International before you go further with your "issue." The excellent principal, dedicated staff, and whole-school IB MYP have served students very well. The most recent MSA scores show more than half of the 8th graders were "advanced" in English - slightly more than at neighboring Eastern with its humanities magnet.

MCPS and its system of magnets feed into parent concerns that their children have "special"programs. Read that as more students/parents of similar demographics if you like. SSI's MYP is not an application program, so only families in the boundary and immersion programs have actual experience with the school. SSI an exceptional job of supporting their diverse students at all levels.
