unpopular opinion in cruises

Cruises with kids in potty training ages should not be a thing. Or just after potty training, when there is greatest potential for accidents.

1. Accidents happen. NBD
2. But if your accident shuts down an entire pool for 1,000+ people for hours,...it still wasn't meant on purpose, but it affects many many people.
3. Take your really young child on about 10 other different vacation options. Somewhere where an accident only affects Zero-20 people.
4. They aren't little forever, go with them when they are older
5. Adults should also take bathroom breaks. STOP PEEING IN POOLS, EVERYBODY. Do you want to swim in a toilet?

Unpopular opinion. I got flamed for bothsidesing this & the opposite opinion (that it's understandable to not want to miss out on a family cruise, etc. That accidents do happen).

But just choosing a cruise when you have a young young kid.. it's not even going to be fun. Go get a beach house or condo instead.

6. Airplane travel is open to all. Because that is not optional, it's sometimes the only way you can travel. AND, it's not like a flight is a guaranteed pleasurable experience. Put your headphones on, it's a glorified Greyhound bus.

Or just put your kid in a swim diaper.

Happy for you, or sorry that happened.

Ok. Good luck controlling strangers.

The "I have a great idea, let's bring our toddler on cruise" people don't understand that cruises wouldn't be appealing to anyone if everyone brought their babies and toddlers.

I've been cruising with my babies since they were one. I never took them into pools before they were potty trained. We'd get off at ports and swim in the ocean; never in the cruise pools. Way too crowded anyway. Cruises are amazingly fun for little ones. Cruise lines have baby and toddler activities every day. They have special play areas for crawling babies. I remember being up at 5 AM with my baby in his sleeper, enjoying having a baby play area on one of the decks all to ourselves. So I disagree that "it's not even fun" to cruise with a baby. I loved it.

Agree. Unless your kid is 100 percent trained you should be putting your kid in a swim diaper for teh pool

The cruise you were on shouldn't be letting kids under 3 or in swim diapers in the pool in the first place. We went on a Disney cruise and there was a splash pad for the kids that were young enough to need swim diapers. The pools were nothing to write home about (small and crowded), but they were also never shut down for a bathroom accident.

That's not an unpopular opinion. The unpopular opinion is going on vacation after potty training. I don't think people understand what unpopular opinion means.

I know that Disney does not allow swim diapers in any pools, but the issue is that parents let their not 100% potty trained kids swim anyway and then the pool is shut down for everyone for hours. grrr

Cruising was the best when my kids were tiny. We never went in the pools, but having dedicated play areas, things to entertain them 24 hours a day, and food catered to whatever their current desire was. Perfect little kid/toddler vacation.

My family has been on a dozen cruises, and we’ve never set foot in the pool…because they are tiny, crowded, and gross.

The water slides are fun.

Splash pads are fine for little ones.

Cruises are fun, and my kids enjoyed the Caribbean when they were still in swim diapers.

Unpopular opinion: kids pooping in pools in gross.

Did you really think that was unpopular?

How do staff know when somebody pees in a pool?

How do you know adults are peeing in the pool?
