Nine in 10 event planners are optimistic about the state of in-person gatherings. 72% will hold more in-person meetings in 2023 than in 2022 and roughly half are willing to increase their budget by up to 20% to book a preferred hotel or venue to create a more curated experience.

Who or what is “OnArrival”?
I quit a job that involved planning this kind of stuff—just not enjoyable in light of people getting sick every time. |

We have at my work for 2024 planned
Movie night-twice BBQ party Xmas party - twice at my level Week of training in Vegas Baseball game Football game Birthday lunch with your dept company paid Two all hand meetings in person at a country club I also go an off site board meeting at resort The staff all want things back to normal. |
| Ugh. Cancelling this BS was such a great aspect of the pandemic. Imagine just doing your work and not having to pretend to socialize and sit at boring conferences. |
Its a data processing company that reviews events and conference attendance rates. |
Where's the learning and development? |
Do you work for a preschool? |
| All that sounds exhausting |
|
Yikes. We have team lunches at a restaurant once per quarter, and a holiday party. That's about what I want to do. I like my coworkers, but I have a husband and two kids, and already do a fair amount of work travel. |
If I were single and in my 20s I would love this. I'm a mid-career working wife and mom, and my colleagues are nice people but not my friends. If I'm going to a movie or a baseball game I want to do it with my family, so unless these were during normal working hours I'd be very resentful of this forced fun. Why is the training in Vegas, are you all scattered or is this your headquarters? If the agenda didn't have a full 40hrs of real honest work I'd again be furious to be dragged from my family and upend our life logistics for gambling and casino shows. |
| I'm seeing a ton of 2024 corporate events for internal purposes be cut back to virtual for cost reasons. Still willing to do conferences/client/revenue related external events, but the internal kickoffs are much lower than 2023. |
I’m so glad I don’t work at a place like this. |
You are not kidding. We see that every time we have a work event gathering. No more contact tracing or informing others being done by the company, but it is a huge hit to productivity. Although a lot of people think they are expected to just work through sickness when they WFH. |
I see this commonly with teams that employ many people between 22 - 27. Sales development reps, junior associates, etc. The 30+ crowd is not into it. |
