Do they get sent to colleges along with the SAT and other scores? If you take it in 9th and do badly is there any consequence to that? |
No. Colleges never see PSAT scores. It’s just for National Merit and occasionally an out of school program asks for them (like a gifted summer program, etc. ) |
When is PSAT taken generally? |
October |
October of junior year |
FCPS administers the PSAT to sophomores, as well. Years ago (my current college junior was in the last class this applied to, IIRC) they also gave the PSAT 8/9 to freshmen. The College Board does not send those scores with official SAT results. The only time they matter for most kids (meaning outside of a few special programs that ask for testing) is if a student earns NMSF status. |
Can a sophomore earn NMSF status or they only look at junior scores? |
PSAT is like Time Share sales pitch for SAT + College board collects a ton of student data to sell to colleges (a $billion dollar business). |
Only juniors. 9th and 10th grades are only practice. They don't count for anything and they don't go to colleges. NO PSAT ever goes to colleges. |
