Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Good. Not insanity. Covid is back. I'm an educator, received word two students tested positive today. I will be masking back up for now, and am glad exposed students are expected to do the same.
Had that ended? Our preschool did this all last year. Oldest just started K.
I think offering masks is fine. Mandating it with the current hospitalizations and death rates is insane.
College prof here. God I would LOVE winter masking.
Don’t be so dumb OP. An entire class of kids has been exposed, with three sick. They are all masking for 10 days and staying IN school to continue to learn while stopping a daisy chain of kids getting sick. Sensible. Better than a never ending stream of kids getting sick 2 or 4 at a time.

It's fine. We had Covid 2 weeks before school started, so are unlikely to catch it again soon, but my children are happy to mask inside for a short time as a courtesy to others. This is what living in a community is all about, OP. Behaving in a civilized manner, and keeping others safe. Not sure why you're desperate to drum up outrage again. How exhausting and unnecessary. |
As a parent I appreciate the communication! Hopefully we can help fewer people get sick so more can stay in school!

Whatever it takes to keep them in school rather than virtual “learning”.
I don’t really favor mask mandates at this point in the game, but getting worked up about 10 day exposure-based, temporary masking just seems silly.
The right wing on twitter is all abuzz about lockdowns and mask requirements right now. Apparently agency "whistleblowers" are telling them they are coming again.

I had COVID twice last month. I take immune suppressing medication for some autoimmune issues. I also teach in MCPS. Nobody actually enforces any masking, even the 5 days upon return to school. Nobody checks that the person is wearing the mask at all, let alone wearing it properly. We still don’t have fully functioning HVAC. It’s super hot and people will be crammed inside together. This is just going to get worse, but I can’t see how masks will make it measurably better without actual enforcement.
It’s a shame MCPS didn’t use the pandemic to lower the class sizes. To me, that would make more of a difference |
