Transportation help, mtg. in Baltimore and don't want to drive. Train?

Anonymous
I live in Alexandria, work in DC. I have a meeting in Baltimore this week, and I am due any day. Really not up for driving, and would love to take the Marc train? Amtrak? Any suggestions on the best way to get there without driving? I could leave from Union Station or Old Town. Take a cab to meeting once I arrive.

Thanks in advance!

why don't you look into a car service. Probably not much more expensive than the combination of driving to union station, parking, train and cab. Frankly just driving sounds much easier than shlepping through the train station, etc. It's really not that far.

I take Marc from Baltimore into Silver Spring two days a week. Except for the 90 degree day a few weeks ago, it's been very reliable. Where is your meeting in Baltimore? Is it near the station? If so, I'd take the Marc in a heartbeat! (Cost is $7 one way.)

It takes 60 minutes max to drive it - usually no traffic and parking is easy in a garage - I do this regularly. Seems like it would take twice as long to take the trains.

OP here- Other issue is that I suffered a pretty bad accident two years ago driving to Baltimore, and haven't really gotten my driving mojo back. My husband can drop me at Union Station. I should just check out the Marc train schedule. Meeting is downtown at 9:30.

Thanks!

I would take Marc, as the Camden station is closer to downtown than the Penn station (depending on where you are going).

Did you say you were due this week? I'd beg off, if I were you!!!

Woah, I'm the 11:01 poster (and a Marc rider). I just realized you were due this week. Yikes! Can't you call in?

I'm the PP who said to drive. With you due any day, can't someone, anyone, drive you? A relative, co-worker, etc? If you go into labor (I realize unlikely), do you really want to take the train back?

Wish I could call this one in, but I have to facilitate it face to face. Due date is actually Friday. Appreciate the consideration though! My gut is telling me that I am going to go late, but you never know. This is my last work gig before I officially work from home, or at the office, where my husband also works (and ready with car keys and a bag if need be.)

So the suggestion would be to take the Marc from Union Station to Camden? They run pretty much on schedule? Looks a lot cheaper than Amtrak.
