Career transition from law

Anonymous
Been in biglaw litigating for almost 25 years. Ready to transition to something else. I’m hoping to work for at least another 15-20 years, but want to do something completely different, ideally something more meaningful. Ok with a significant pay cut, but not willing to work in an office 5 days a week at this point. That seems to rule out a lot of nonprofit and teaching jobs which were the two paths I had contemplated. Any success stories out there? I’m not wedded to staying or leaving law - just looking for a change. Also if anyone in a similar boat has used a career coach to help with this type of transition, please share recommendations. Thanks!

My nonprofit is hybrid and I think most are. When you can’t pay a lot, allowing remote work is an easy perk that helps nonprofits compete for talent. I am surprised you’re not finding this to be the case.

I haven’t made the switch but have been fantasizing about going back as a high school English teacher. I’d want to work at a private school only.

In the same boat as the OP. In federal litigation for 20+ years and ready to transition to non profit/foundation work but part time. Would love recommendations on coaches or agencies that help professionals make the transition. Good luck, OP!
