DC-area senior facility for senior with psychiatric issues

My in-laws are in their mid 70s and in need of independent living near us in the DC area. They both are physically capable, but living alone in a remote part of the country is not practical anymore. The big issue is that my father in law has psychiatric issues that have gotten worse in the past year. He is paranoid and suspicious of people, and recently has gotten in people's faces if he thinks they are out to get him. This has been a problem for a few decades but it has gotten worse. He has seen psychiatrists who are not great, partly because they live in the middle of nowhere. He is not at a stage where he would be institutionalized, but I also worry that he would do something that would get them kicked out of any independent (or assisted) living facility.

Are there any independent or assisted living facilities in the DC area that are more tolerant of people with psychological issues like this?

My mom had Frontotemporal dementia that lead to lots of paranoia. She and my Dad were at Greenspring. She was able to stay in IL with my Dad because they (at the time) had a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who put her on the right cocktail of medication.
