Read some of Kuhner's other stuff. His evidence that Obama wants to destroy Israel is that Obama favors the two-state solution. He claims that Obama, whose two closest advisors are Jews (Axelrod and Emanuel), wants to wipe Jews off the face of the earth.

More evidence that some folks are so poisoned by partisan hatred, they'll believe anything.

Emanuel is not only Jewish, but an Israeli. His father immigrated from there and Emanuel maintains Israeli citizenship and worked with the IDF. If I remember correctly, I believe his brother is still there and actively engaged in politics. Doubtful that a man hell-bent on destroying the Israeli state would so closely associate with someone like Emanuel. Then again, we know how SNEAKY and NEFARIOUS those Muslimists are!

That article is so rife with inaccuracies and misrepresentations, it is hard to know where to begin. It largely plays on the conflation of supporting Palestinian statehood with opposing Israeli existence. How does supporting a two-state system, in which one of those states is Israel, demonstrate a commitment to the destruction of Israel?

Also, what does it mean to be a "cultural Muslim"? There is not a unified, monolithic "Muslim culture". As someone pointed out, Islam in Indonesia is, religiously, fairly different than Islam in Southwest Asia. And, culturally, they are even further apart. So, again, what does it mean to be "culturally Muslim"?

The article derides Obama for not wanting to kill civilians and for upholding the Constitution (prosecuting criminals in criminal court)... aren't those two pretty big things that AMERICANS claim to be all about?

The article describes Obama as the "anti-Bush", which is a bit of an overstatement given that, big picture, they are closer to each other than they are to either extreme. But, even if we accept that premise from an American ideological perspective, why is that necessarily a bad thing? Bush-era policies led to an increasingly antagonistic relationship with Muslims, an uptick in religiously motivated violence, and, ultimately, increased risk for America and Israel alike. And, while I realize this sounds like a "blame the victim" mentality, we (and Israel) have killed far more citizens of Islamic nations and territories than we have of theirs.

Articles such as this always confuse me. Maybe I'm just a little simple and not sophisticated or anything. But, why is supporting a two-state solution because you believe it is the best way for Israeli to survive in the future considered "anti-Israel"? On the other hand, if you support Israel unquestionably because you believe it will be destroyed during Armageddon, you are considered "pro-Israel". Maybe if Obama would simply come out and say that he can't wait for the return of the Messiah so that Israel/Palestine will no longer be a problem, he will be considered "culturally Jewish" or something. I just find the whole thing confusing.

Everyone believes in the two state solution. Even Israel. It's just a matter of the details.

Jeff-

The problem is that we've turned pro-Palestinian into anti-Israel, when supporting both groups is not mutually exclusive. If you believe in the rights of Palestinians, you somehow are a Jew-hater.

78% of Israelis support a two state solution according to this poll. This corroborates older data I have seen from other sources.

Frankly, the histrionics in the posted article are exactly what people point to when they say the U.S. Israel lobby and its supporters go too far. If blind, unthinking allegience is the only acceptable type of friendship for Israel, Israel will have no friends among nations, and few friends even among American Jews.

Obama's a cultural Muslim? Oh, then he's going to invite me to his house and serve lots of wonderful food and be a marvelous host? Works for me!
