Twin XL comforter?

Taking my kid to college soon...
Will a twin comforter work on a college XL twin bed? We were thinking of buying a comforter at Ikea but don't think they hae twin XL. Seems like it is only 2 inches different? Might not matter?

Twin is fine (unless your kid is very tall or very large, in which case you might want to get a double). XL comforters are nearly non-existent.

sometimes kids will get a bigger one to cover under the bed storage and possibly use next year in an apartment.

Yes. My DD has a twin comforter (in a duvet cover that is called twin/twinXL) and it is just fine. You wouldn't know the difference.
