Changing your first name?

If you could change your first name, what would it be? Growing up, I always wanted to be a Crystal (ie Crystal Gayle).

I don’t like any other name enough to change the one I’ve had for 40 years. The ones I like, I have to my daughters.

If I was required to change my first name, it would be to what my mom originally wanted to name me. However, I like my name and have no plans to change it.

I wanted to be Monica or Leslie from the time I was a very little girl, because I heard those names on General Hospital, which my mother watched, and those women seemed very glamorous and beautiful. Lol.

My mother told me that she almost named me Tabitha after the little girl in Bewitched. I would have liked that.

I like my name, but for myself I like the names Claire and Emily too.

I'm not sure I'd pick either for a daughter, but they'd suit me, I think.

Yep, and sometimes depending on who I'm talking with or who is physically around me, I have provided my middle or Hebrew name instead of admitting my name is Karen.

My mom was only considering Michelle before choosing Karen.

I've never thought of it seriously, but I have thought about what I would like to be if I could pick my own name. I have a common 80s girl name (well, a common name for all eras honestly) and the commonness doesn't bother me but the inability to make easy nicknames does.

I think, for that reason, I'd like a nick-name-able name like Amelia, Madeline, or Elizabeth. If I could pick. But I would never change my name, I like it and obviously have grown attached to it.

I always liked the name Annabel. It sounds classic yet whimsical and has the lovely Edgar Allen Poe poem Annabel Lee.

When I was a kid, I always named myself Stella when we were playing house or pretend.

In high school (Irish Catholic in Chicago) I always wanted a double barrel name like Mary Kate, Mary Claire, Mary Beth
