If you are on an injectable, what do you do with the pens?

Do you toss after recapping? Buy a sharps container and drop off at the transfer station? Something else?

A labeled wine bottle can serve as a sharps container. No need to buy a special shapes container

We get speciality meds through CVS and they send us sharps containers.

I was just wondering this. Why exactly can’t I just throw away if it’s capped? Right now they’re all in a drawer waiting for me to figure this out

You can use anything for a sharps container. OJ bottle, laundry bottle, any hard plastic bottle. Just toss in the trash.

Full honesty we just recap and toss.

I put the cap back on it and tossed it in the trash. Never even occurred to me to do something special.

I can see why hospitals and drs offices need to worry about it. But no one is digging in my trash for needles.

The wegovy video from novo nordisk shows you putting it in something like a plastic laundry bottle. I don't buy that kind so I put them in a wide mouth juice bottle. You're supposed to put it in the trash when full, with lid on.

filling one of these up and then supposed to tape it closed before tossing. holds a lot!

We had insulin needles for our dog - a plastic Tide jug worked great. Narrow mouth, so the needles aren't coming back out by accident. But it is durable, held a lot, and was easy to drop the needles into.

My daughter takes a daily injectable with a pen. We buy disposable sharps containers from amazon (they come in a multi pack) and toss them when they are full. It's what her doctor told us to do when she first started with the medication.

What’s the point of putting them in a container if they are still going in regular trash?

This. I guess sticking them in a plastic bottle means none of it will ever biodegrade but it keeps people near the trash from getting stuck?

I always recap though my needle retracts too so I push the cap in and throw away. The needle has double coverage but I might do a container if it were daily

The drugstore or whatever that ships me the needles shipped me a small sharps container. I recap the needle, and toss it in the container. When I have four in there, I bring the container in a tote bag to Walgreens - they will take the sharps.

Buy a sharps container and properly dispose of them at local facilities in your town. Drop locations are everywhere.
