I was surprised how few parents turned out this year for HS BTSN. Only 5 parents for the first period, maybe 10 for the highest volume, and only 1 for the last period.
This isn’t my first rodeo since we have a handful of kids, and I’ve never seen such low attendance. It was scheduled earlier than usual this year, but still. |
| Sherwood? |
| I’m not going with Covid. They should have a virtual option. |
| Ours was tonight at Wootton but we couldn’t make it. I felt badly about that. I wish they still had a virtual option because that would have made it possible to pop in and out as time allowed. When I went to pick DS up from sports practice in the middle of it, the school parking lot and the neighboring MS parking lot were packed so I think they had good attendance. |
| Another thing from Covid that should have stuck. It’s more convenient for parents and teachers alike. |
Yep. |
My kid is a senior. The only reason I could think of for going to BTSN was that if the school goes to all the trouble to have BTSN, somebody ought to show up. I hope somebody else showed up, because I didn't. Not Sherwood. |

Our DC's was really crowded like the hallways were gridlock in some places. All of DC's classes were full but it could be because they are in 9th.
For older DC we only went for 9th but not after that. |
| There is no reason not to make BTSN a priority. It’s sad how bad parenting has gotten |
Yeah okay. Some people already had plans months in advance. It’s not like this is on the calendar at the end of the year to help plan, but go off. |
What are the reasons to make BTSN a priority? |
| As of today, our HS had the BTSN date from 2022 on the website. How are parents supposed to plan if the school doesn't even bother to share accurate information? |
BTSN is nice but its not the be all and end all. You can email teachers, check online daily to see what's going on.. those things are far more important. |
| I agree Back to School night should be a priority, but our school fails to communicate very well. People have to ask on the PTA list serv because there is nothing on the school’s web site or principal’s weekly report. Then, date is wrong on one school doc, no guidance as to times, limited to no parking, etc. Altogether, it seems like they are encouraging folks to stay home. |
| What could you get out of BTSN in HS? You teacher will hardly remember most kids’ names by the end of the year, and impossible to remember your face. The contract that they gave to the kids about class rules and expectation is informed enough. Otherwise just email them in ParentVUE |
