| How do you answer your cell phone if you don’t recognize the number? Do you just say “hello” or state your full name? The reason I am asking is that I just say “hello”, you never know who is on the other line - it could be a doctors office or a spam call… but people in the other line never introduce themselves. They demand to know my name but never state theirs first. Be it a doctors office, someone calling from the opera to request a donation, or some newspaper trying to sell me a subscription. |
| I don’t. |
| I usually don’t but on the off chance I do I say “Hello”. Or if I know it’s spam I say nothing and just keep them on the line for $hits and giggles. |
| I don’t answer calls I don’t know unless I am expecting a call from a doctor or something. If they ask who I am I don’t answer the question. I simply ask what they are calling about. |
| Not unless I am expecting a call from someone not in my contacts. |

I say “hello?” And if they say “Hi is this Larla?” I respond, “Who is this?” before I say whether or not I’m Larla. I often need to answer unknown numbers, but most of the time it’s a spammer.
Doctor’s offices usually will usually announce who they are first. |
This is exactly the situation that keeps happening - someone calls from a doctor’s office and they just never say their name. Every single time I have to ask who is speaking. It’s so annoying. |
| I pretend I’m my own receptionist - “Hi. Can I help you?” If I know them they’ll say “Hey Sally, it’s Larla.” If they ask for me and I don’t know the voice, I simply say “She’s not available. May I take a message.” |
Love this. Good idea. |
| I don't answer my phone if I don't know who it is. If it is legit/important they can leave a message or text me. |
If they call and ask for Mike do you also ask who is calling or just say no and wrong number? If you ask me who’s calling I’m assuming you’re the person I asked about. |
I wonder if is the receptionist's way of trying to do patient privacy. They don't know for sure who is answering the phone so if they introduce themselves first they could be telling someone else that you go to a certain doctor. |
| I stopped answering my cell. Too many spoofed calls. If you answer then they know the number is legit and they call later to try to get your personal information. |
| Just answer and say you are Pizza Hut. Your friends and family will laugh. Scammers will hang up |
I just press the button and don’t say anything. They called me — they can speak first. |
