Why doesn’t Wood Acres have ELC?

Does anyone know the history of why Wood Acres Elementary School doesn’t have an Enriched Literacy Curriculum? It has compacted math but no enrichment for reading and writing.

| It looks like that list was updated in 2022, before MCPS announced it would be rolled out to every ES except those with immersion programs. |

We are at the school. There is no ELC as the website states. In 4th, there is compacted math. |

| My child is in 4th at Wood Acres. If you look in ParentVUE it says “Reading Gr 4 (ELC)” under the Class Schedule tab. The teacher assignment email before the first day also said “ELC” |

Where does it say Wood Acres has to have every program? |

| Wood acres didn't have it previously because the previous principle decided against it when MCPS gave them the choice. Then she retired and left the mess where the current 5th graders are suffering for being one of the only schools in the area without ELC. |

| All non immersion schools have it for 4th grade this year, but only some have it for 5th grade. And in some schools with a high percentage of students who need ELA enrichment, all students are getting ELC. that's the case at our school. |
