what bulbs should I plant?

Anonymous
We have some shrubs (laurel and azalea) in front of our house and I'd like to plant some bulbs this fall for flowering next spring. What would look best? any recommendations for apps or websites to help design the layout? The shrubs are new so they are pretty small and I imagine they will still be small next spring. would tulips be too tall? should I stick to smaller things like crocus?

shrubs will grow, so don't limit your selection based on one season. unless you plan on digging them out or you get tulips that only bloom once.

Even if tulips are taller, they are very short lived so it'd be like 6 weeks of plants before they shrivel up and go dormant until next spring.

Be like me: daffodils, tulips, giant allium, hyacinths.

Does anyone know if daffodils will grow through pachysandra ground cover?

If so, what kind? Eden Bros is running a sale of bulbs that might work but I don’t want to plant 100 bulbs to find out they would grow through!

Eden Brothers does not have a reputation for quality. Try Brent and Becky’s or Longfield Gardens.
Daffodils and pachysandra are not a good combination. They will be too dense to let the bulbs grow through.

Thank you. Do you know of any flowers that will grow nicely through? Google told me some daffodils and maybe tulips.
