| 9th grader already exhausted after first day and need to get her on a better sleep schedule. |
| 9:30-midnight or so depending on activities and homework. |
| 9:00 pm. |
| 10:30pm. Yesterday I was given a lecture on how he can set his own schedule... |
| 10pm |
|
My 10th grader aims to head to bed to read between 9 and 9:30, and turns out her light between 9:30 and 10; wakes up at 6:30. She did the same last year.
The first week or two can be really exhausting with the transition to high school. It should get better! |
| Meant to be 9:30ish but tends to be after 10. Sometimes in 8th he’d be doing homework past 10. |
| Ideally, lights out 9pm but with activities and schedules it's often 9:30-9:45. |
| My 9th grader is insisting that 10:30 is fine but it's not. He is way too tired in the morning and irritable at night. I'd prefer if he went to bed at 9:30. |
| this is crazy that this has to be talked about. follow the science. big kids need more sleep. we're creating overworked zombies. shame on mcps. it should be the opposite. little kids earlier. everyone knows this. |
| I take phones and close doors at 9:30. I am definitely in the minority based on all of the texting that goes through after I have taken the phones. |
|
The key is their access to internet and phone. If you don't have control of that, good luck; and if you haven't been toeing that line from the start, it'll be a bit of a process to re-introduce those boundaries. |
Not all kids need more sleep and this has nothing to do with MCPS. |
My kid is fine if we take that away and they'd just read. |

No screens after 10pm (set downtime)
They are usually asleep by 10:30pm Awake at 6:45am Out the door 7:15am |
