I bake a lot, but I’ve never made a flan. I’ve been asked for one by a friend who is going through chemo though - so I really want to make it, and make it great.
He’s asked for a peach flan, so bonus points if you have a recipe for that, but if not, I’m sure I can swap that in or incorporate it. Also, the cancer he’s being treated for is colon cancer, so he’s trying to eat healthfully - if someone has a recipe that is sweetened with agave, or honey - anything other than refined sugar, really - that’d be even better. Also very happy to receive tips/tricks from those of you who’ve made flans before. Thanks! |

My recipe is at home (family recipe), but is somewhat similar to the one above. We use more eggs/ingredients, but that may just be a quantity thing.
I've only ever made flan in pie pans. It seems odd to me to see it in a loaf pan (recipe linked). I've never heard of peach flan, or any fruit flans. I guess you could grill some peaches and place them on top, but I've never heard of it. |
I would puree the peach and blend it in. Maybe not strain though. That seems like too much peach yogurt. |
I don’t think it would set correctly, though I’m just an amateur. You’d definitely need to strain it, otherwise you won’t have a smooth texture. No one wants chunky flan. |

You all know there are two kinds of flan, right?
One is the set molded custard. The other kind of flan is a straight-sided fruit tart (which may or may not have custard). Sure your friend doesn't mean the second type? |
I’m OP, and no I’m not sure - I’ve never made a flan. Do you have a recipe for the second type? I appreciate everything everyone has shared so far, thank you all. |
Never heard of the second type and now I'm intrigued. |
