Who is Erin Carter - Netflix

Anyone watching this? It's so-so, in my opinion. I really like the main character and the fact that I've never seen her before. She looks so much like Eva Longoria! I also like the way the story is set mostly in Barcelona, a city we don't see much in film.

However, it bothers me that Erin's been living in Barcelona for five years and still doesn't speak a word of Catalan. Maybe she speaks some Spanish, but we never hear her using it. You'd think she would have taken lessons at some point after living there for FIVE YEARS.

I stopped watching when she said that about not speaking Catalan. Plus, it didn't seem like it was going to get better so I quit early.

I am really enjoying this show so happy to see it being discussed. I’m on episode 6 and some parts are outrageous and not believable, but still fun to watch. I think if her husband and friends and students speak English, it might make sense she doesn’t speak much Catalan? Maybe?

I don't think it's unrealistic that an English teacher in Spain hasn't learnt Catalan. Probably everyone in her life wants to practice their English with her, from her students to her expat friend group.

I really loved the fight scenes and how she was able to use any available object as a weapon. Very cool choreography.

Is this a Spanish show? So confusing that it is set in Catalonia with Spanish actors but the main language is English (not dubbed) and sometimes the characters switch over to Spanish.

But I kind of like it though.

It is a little odd that it's set in Spain but is pretty much all English-speaking. But that was part of the appeal for me. You don't see that very often.

^^ to add, the main actress is actually Swedish.

I’m on episode 7 ( last one) right now! I’ve loved this show, one of the best I’ve seen for a while on Netflix.
The mouthy kid is even reminding me of my current mouthy kid lol.

Really? Then her British accent is actually really good. I agree that after fiver years, she should speak at least some Catalan.

Yes, I was reading that this was her first English-language project! Though, as a Swede I’m sure she’s spoke fluent English all her life.

No her accent is absolutely continental person speaking English. Brit here. I thought she was actually Spanish.

I binge watched all 7 episodes. Really should have been condensed/edited into 6 episodes. Enjoyed the scenery & the cast.

She sounds just like Mel B.

100% right. Made in English for low brow English watchers, Erin Carter betrays a belief that the “English always speak English” trope might die.

48:40 into episode 1 was enough for me. Cops don’t just bury random attackers.
