MTHFR deficiency in donor

Is this safe if I don't have a MTHFR deficiency but the donor sperm does?

We did have him evaluated by our clinic and they signed off but I know a lot has come out about MTHFR mutations recently.

I'd skip

Can people elaborate on why? We really liked this profile and he doesn't match anything I tested + for. His family medical history was clear also.

We do have a back up but they only have two vials available

He is + for recessive conditions

Homocystinuria due to MTHFR deficiency

Plus 3 others. My sema4 came back + for two conditions, not matching this donor.

It can be associated with ASD and depression and dementia and all sorts of stuff. Runs in my family and we have all those problems. I'm one of the one's above recommending skip!

Is there a risk if only one biological parent has +recessive gene. Do we both need to be + for it to pass on

30-40% of the population has it.

Can a sperm donor with MTHFR cause an increase of miscarriages? Similar to having it yourself

I have it and would be interested in reading any new items about it. All I'd ever heard was heightened risk of TIA, which can be mitigated with extra folate.
