Option Middle School - APS

Would this idea actually gain traction and be treated seriously? Seems like Williamsburg is under enrolled and perhaps creating an option program there would make sense.

No thanks. Part of APS' problem is there are too many option schools. I really don't like pigeon-holing kids at such young ages. They should have time and opportunity to explore and figure out how they learn best and what their interests and talents really are. These things change over time, especially in adolescence.

As a method for you to avoid your child taking a bus, no it won't be taken seriously.

OP here. Well we are zoned for Williamsburg so it wouldn’t make a difference for us transportation wise. Would still have to take the same bus. Not sure what you are implying. As far as I know we aren’t being rezoned anywhere and even if we were I wouldn’t care. My kids go to an option elementary school that is farther from our neighborhood school and that has a hub stop.

They should move Immersion and Montessori to Williamsburg since it has room for the programs and all of the other middle schools have reason to believe they are going to see growth in students who live in their current zones. However, Immersion parents feel personally victimized by this suggestion so you can expect to be called privileged and racist and stupid.
