| Flexible on location. Going out with girlfriends in the city for the first time in a long time (kids, burbs etc). We’re just looking for a place with interesting food and lively ambience (where you don’t need a reservation). TIA! |

Hard Rock Cafe? OMG, ignore. ⬆️
Unconventional Diner on 9th St near the Convention Center is so good and service is friendly. |
| Busboys & Poets. 2 Amys. A trip to Union Market. Maybe Zaytinya -- not sure if you need a reservation there anymore? |
There's a Hard Rock in DC? How did I not know this? I worked at the one in Chicago in the early 90s at the height of the craze. I would have visited the DC one if I knew it was there, for nostalgia. But I don't think that is what OP is looking for. |

I enjoy the Jose Andres restaurants and have gotten in many times on a weeknight without reservations.
You could also go to Union market and/or La Cosecha, both of which can be fun. |

Omg Hard Rock Cafe?!!
Anyway, my absolute go to restaurant for that sort of thing is Zaytinya. I have never been disappointed. |
| Causa and 18th street lounge (which is on 9th street) |

The Smith
Zaytinya |
|
Jaleo
Reservations not required but highly recommended esp on the weekend, but that goes for about any restaurant downtown |

Why all the hate on Hard Rock Cafe?
Never been to the one in DC, do tell! |
| Chiming in Andres restaurants but voting for China Chilcano although Oyamel and Zaytinya are good options too |
