I am so irritated. The MSI classic games start in 11 days and the schedule has not been posted. Some of us have lives that we are trying to plan and would like to know when we are able to visit grandparents, take older kids to see colleges, plan a birthday party, plan meetings for other activities, etc., etc. They do this every year, where they post a *very late* date that they anticipate having the schedules up, and then miss that date by several days. It's really rude and unimpressive management.
I'm posting this in the hope that people from MSI read this board. |
| Chill out. It's usually the Monday 2 weeks before, whoch is tomorrow. If you, and they, have been doing it for years, why do you think they would change now? |
| Ha. 11 days is an eternity for MSI. They will post the first two weeks of games three days before games start, then come out with the balance of the schedule later. |

Montgomery County Public Parks is to blame, not MSI. MSI requests/rents fields and it takes MCPP forever to issue the fields.
Please note that MSI requests/rents hundreds to fields for their Rec, Classic as well as their travel teams. |
+1. If you don't like late schedules never get involved with basketball. |
Aren't most MSI Classic games on fields MSI controls (e.g., Julius West, Whitman, Einstein)? |
|
MSI as an organization can't get out of its own way. It offers a great value for kids that just want to play soccer at a recreational level. But the organization has never invested in club infrastructure and it shows.
Now MSI is trying to rebuild its travel organization, which is great. But until they get an administrative infrastructure in place, it's not an attractive place to play. |
Their travel teams have games scheduled. If you want better treatment, pay MSI more money |
+1. MSI travel plays games at MD Soccerplex (unaffiliated with Montgomery Parks) and MCPS HS turf fields that are pre-paid by MSI (due to court settlement). All of MSI Rec and most of Classic games are played on MCPS Elementary and MS fields managed by Montgomery Parks. |
No — especially for the older age groups, it’s a mix of the turf fields mentioned above and MCPS and MCPP fields as mentioned by PP. |
I don't see how this can be the sole source of the problem. We did BCC baseball for many many years -- they also use the County public parks, and they always had their schedules out significantly in advance of MSI. I think MSI just waits until the last minute to get their requests in. As PP indicated, I think they do not have significant infrastructure to support the organization. |
I hope you’re not comparing the popularity and the number of required soccer fields vs baseball and baseball fields. |
+1!! |

MSI travel is not really a club like regular clubs. They provide almost zero oversight to the coaches who are allowed to run wild. A few coaches are good and use the MSI insurance because it's less of a hassle than forming their own club but a few really abuse the players and families and MSI turns a blind eye.
|
| FWIW it's also a lot more expensive than other clubs. It should be cheaper given their mission to promote soccer for everyone but the coaches are greedy. I did hear the new director is trying to change things but the way things were was just unethical. |
