"Alexandria Police: No arrests after multiple shots fired incidents this weekend" https://www.alxnow.com/2023/08/22/alexandria-police-no-arrests-after-multiple-shots-fired-incidents-this-weekend/ |
| What?? Did they find out who did it? |
"Around 8:15 p.m., two additional shootings were reported along S. Patrick Street south of Old Town. A large group of motorcycle and dirt bike riders that previously rolled through Arlington was gathered at the Speedway and Liberty stations at Franklin Street when shootings happened at both, according to scanner traffic. At least 2 people were reported to be shot and then brought by fellow bikers over to Maryland, where they are being treated. The extent of their injuries are unclear." All you need to know about the second spat of shootings in Old Town. |
There have been a lot of these on incidents as of late. Not a good look for Alexandria. Last few shooting s they have had no suspects and no arrests. |
Sounds like the bikers were shot. Not a lot of sympathy here. The bikers and ATV riders have been terrorizing other drivers and pedestrians for years. |
I don't get who exactly are these bikers? Why are they coming here to start trouble the news stories aren't covering much detail of information. It's confusing. What group is this? |
How is it confusing? If you've lived in the DMV for any amount of time, you know about these gangs of bikers, and know that they do this all over the region. They're probably a mix of DC/MD/VA residents and somehow find each other over their shared love of driving dirt bikes like morons and starting fights wherever they go. |
They're like the Kiwanis or the Knights of Columbus. They drive around in their little vehicles and throw candy and well wishes out to the children. It's really quite comforting to know they're out there, and they care. |
This brief (4 minutes) video- journalism from The New York Times provides background on this movement (it is nationwide now, but especially prevalent in parts of D.C. and surrounding areas): |
| Biker gangs in this area is just...weird....very weird. |
It started in Baltimore. There was a documentary on either HBO or Showtime about the 12 o'clock boys in Baltimore over 10 years ago, it's pretty good. https://youtu.be/SZpT8PRSchU?si=5rj6HGiMkLA6TI-s |
