| Curious-with charters starting last week and Dcps this week, will waitlist comes to a stop at both charters and DCPS this week? |
| No. First week of October. |
| Charters possibly are done working their waitlist at schools like basis and Latin but Dcps will run it to first week of October for sure |
| Schools will offer lotto seats if the class isn't full. If you want to get Intel on the possibility of a seat, call and ask if the grade of interest is full |
| Depends. BASIS and Latin won't admit kids after this week. Many other charters work their WL well into the year, sometimes into Jan or Feb. |
|
What grade?
It is typical that PreK3 and PreK4 move (a little bit) over the next few weeks. Elementary will move as kids who enrolled in the spring are no shows - the school will typically give them until the week after labor day. And kids who are in-bounds but did not enroll show up. |
|
Charters can decide whether to move their lists or not. I'm always perplexed when it's just soooo haaaaaard, oh sooooo haaaaard to let in anyone after the first day of school, so a seat is left open. But whatever.
Prepare for a very short time to decide, like 24 hours. |
| Not OP but do people think if you are #1 on a PK waitlist you will most likely get into the school? (It’s a JKLM, if that matters). |
If someone leaves, you will. If nobody leaves, you won't. It's pretty random. |
PK spots at those schools are tough, I wouldn’t get your hopes up |
yep, someone is going to have to not show up or leave. i'm sorry. There is always someone who is left as #1 on the waitlist. |
| Yes they will |
Meaning latin already stopped or they will stop after this upcoming week? |
| Latin 2nd moved one spot for me this morning, but I'm so far back on the waitlist that it doesn't mean much. |
| I suspect Latin and basis may move a few this week but then done for year after this week. |
