If you’ve used or considered websites like Testing Mom etc for test prep (iReady, Cogat) can you share your experience / takeaways? Eg, what plan you chose, how well it prepared your child, whether the questions seemed similar to the test, why you didn’t chose it, or any other considerations. Thanks. |
We used TestingMom. Predominantly we used it as practice testing, although it does seem to have a lot of game based learning aspects, but my child really didn't get into those.
Pro: It's an online platform and seems to replicate the computer based experience of the test they'll actually be taking at school versus the booklets you can buy. Con: After a few times, if you use it repeatedly, it recycles the questions, so doesn't really give an accurate assessment after a while. Also, there's not an answer explanation, which would have helped... I swear there's some wrong answers in there for the association questions - or else maybe (likely) I'm not as smart as I think I am. Like most prepping, I think it will raise your score only marginally. Though marginal increase was all we really needed to go from borderline to getting in AAP. |
Thanks this is helpful. |
