ISO feedback on test prep websites

Anonymous
If you’ve used or considered websites like Testing Mom etc for test prep (iReady, Cogat) can you share your experience / takeaways? Eg, what plan you chose, how well it prepared your child, whether the questions seemed similar to the test, why you didn’t chose it, or any other considerations. Thanks.

We used TestingMom. Predominantly we used it as practice testing, although it does seem to have a lot of game based learning aspects, but my child really didn't get into those.

Pro: It's an online platform and seems to replicate the computer based experience of the test they'll actually be taking at school versus the booklets you can buy.

Con: After a few times, if you use it repeatedly, it recycles the questions, so doesn't really give an accurate assessment after a while. Also, there's not an answer explanation, which would have helped... I swear there's some wrong answers in there for the association questions - or else maybe (likely) I'm not as smart as I think I am.

Like most prepping, I think it will raise your score only marginally. Though marginal increase was all we really needed to go from borderline to getting in AAP.
