Good book about FDR for someone unfamiliar with his story?

| I am reading a great book about a woman that worked for him called The Confidante. I would like to find a book that tells FDR's life story and a bit about the history of his time in the US. I would also like to read a seperate book about his wife Eleanor. Any recs before I go looking on Amazon? |

| Jean Edward Smith’s FDR biography is very good. It’s one volume and about 600 pages. Highly recommended. |
