I don’t want to use plastic bags, but the bento box type containers don’t seem to work for us. Do you have recommendations? All I have tried have some issues. The major one is that after washing them, they take forever to dry, don’t dry in the dishwasher, don’t stay open to air dry so I have to figure out a way to get air to them. My counter looks really cluttered with all these standing drying bags. I must be doing something wrong. Please help!
OP here - to clarify, the bento boxes work, but it’s not enough and we need an extra bag or two. TIA!
They make all kinds of drying racks for them, but we just use a pair of open kitchen tongs to keep the bags open and they usually dry overnight.
Stasher bags are great.
+1 on the Stasher bags. We tried several different brands of silicone bags and Stasher wins. Avoid the ones that have plastic closures. They break over time.

Would this IKEA product work for the air drying? I use one of these in my laundry room for socks and other small items. They hold a lot.

I only use Stasher. The other types I’ve had are just not as good.
I use a plain dish drying rack (the type that can fit into a sink or go in your counter?) and splay the bags open on the dividers to dry. Works really well. (We have a second sink so the drying rack lives in that sink and we use it for drying) |
After trial and error I only use Stasher bags as well. I splay the bags open over wooden spoons or the bottoms of glasses to dry.
Are you looking for sandwich size bags? I use Lunchskins paper sandwich bags. I tried sending reusable bags to school when dd was in K and...they all got thrown out (I don't think the adults understood that they were reusable and dd was obeying them by throwing out 'trash').
Agree with stashed but Costco just got in a knockoff that is way cheaper and seems to be just as good.
I really like the small Sistema boxes too—we’ve had them since preschool and my youngest is 13 now. Marshalls usually has them.
I use these as well - they aren’t great for snacks like chips though, the grease seeps through. Also not good for cut up fruits or veggies because of the moisture. I use tiny ziploc containers for things like fruit and veggies, and paper bags for sandwiches. Stasher sandwich bags were too big for the divided lunchboxes we have. |

We use this to dry our ziploc bags after washing them. We put them over our furnace/ac air vent to dry faster, but they will dry without that. We have used them for decades. We have a few of the Stashers, but find them cumbersome.
