Restaurant near convention center

Anonymous
Any great restaurants within walking distance of the convention center for a great meal for a group of 4 on Monday. Not looking for a chain- and one guest has allergies to gluten & dairy. Please give recommendations!

as long as there will be good options for the one person who cannot eat gluten or dairy, it is fine

I like Unconventional Diner as well.

The Dabney is amazing but I think they've moved to a prix fixe menu? Not sure how that works with accommodating dietary limits. But never had a bad meal there.

Convivial is just a few blocks away and great for groups. I've actually only been there for brunch but it's great.

And while I find it a bit underwhelming, All-Purpose is an easy option. I do believe they have gluten-free crust options and they definitely have non-dairy options for the pizza. Plus they have salads as well.

Unconventional Diner will be great with your eating restrictions - their menu is varied and well-marked and the restaurant is literally in the convention center.

For fancier: Kinship, Petite Cerise, Dabney, Convivial.

Other good places (depending on where exactly you're orienting, type of food you want, and how far you might want to walk - all of these are within 1/2 mile): Mariscos or El Sol, Mandu, Baan Siam, Rumi's Kitchen.

I live nearby and love to eat

One note on Unconventional - the food comes FAST and it's a bit louder than most of the other places on the list (unless you sit outside). The food itself is great, but it's definitely a bustling spot and may not be ideal if you're looking for a more leisurely experience.

Tasty but expensive for what you get. A bit scene-y.

El Sol is delicious and it's easy to avoid dairy or gluten there. It's not fancy though, so this would be for a casual meet up. Their tacos are incredible.

This is a good list. I've never been unhappy with either Unconventional Diner or Mariscos for this type of thing.

I would add about 40 others before going to Carmine's, which is a tourist trap for people who don't realize that this is an absolutely incredible food neighborhood.
